Acidosis is mostly due to our modern lifestyle: an acidic diet coupled with a lack of physical activities and a too stressful life. This condition constitutes a huge problem for our populations as it brings out, according to nutritionists and other scientists, an impressive number of chronic diseases that threaten our lives.

Therefore, in presence of a chronic disease (like acid reflux, arthritis, Candida infections, obesity, osteoporosis and premature aging) before thinking of any treatment, natural or medical, the first thing to do is to adopt a healthy lifestyle. This should include the following activities.

1. Test your body pH regularly

Check your body pH once a week on the same day using the First Morning Urine Test. Your goal should be to get rid of acidosis and any related chronic disease. For instance, are the functions of your Body Regulatory System (breathing, circulation and elimination) working properly? Have your physician confirm the disease and follow your health condition. Anyhow, do not forget to change your lifestyle.

2. Avoid excessive psychological and physical stresses

Too much psychological and physical stress may lead to acidosis.

3. Exercise regularly

Exercise at least two hours a week: walking, swimming, biking, and so one. Physical exercise strengthens our muscles and supports optimal metabolism and physiology. Our muscles are the body workers that run life activities. We should maintain them in good shape!

4. Follow an alkaline diet

Adopt an alkaline diet. Use our Acid-Alkaline Food Chart to compose your alkaline diet menus which should consist, by weight, of at least 80% of alkaline-producing foods (vegetables and fruits) and of not more than 20% of acid-forming foods (animal products, cereals, sugars), and alkaline water. This diet is tough and very difficult to follow. Therefore, to balance your diet, add in on a daily basis some nutritional supplements.

When the body buffering system is overwhelmed, a state of "acidosis autotoxication" develops. In that situation, one should give immediate attention to the body to reduce the stress. The process of restoring the body pH balance begins with a proper nutrition.

Note that when the body digests foods, depending on their mineral and organic composition, their by-products may be acidic, neutral or alkaline. Hence, we can divide foods into two groups: acid-forming foods (animal products, cereals, sugars) and alkaline-producing foods (vegetables, fruits). Processed foods are generally acid-producing foods. White flour, beverages like soft drinks and coffee. Artificial sweeteners (like aspartame, Equal, NutraSweet) are all acid-forming, with the exception of Stevia that is alkaline-producing.

To keep our body away from diseases, it is important that our daily dietary intake of food act to balance our body pH. This goal is of course hard and almost impossible to reach with our today lifestyle.

5. Improve your nutrition with supplemets

Nowadays to get our nutrition balanced anywhere we need to add to our modern acidic diet, on a daily base, a number of nutritional supplements. Nutritional supplements are safer and far less expensive than pharmaceutical drugs. Therefore, people might use nutrition supplements on a regular base to promote their general health and to help prevent degenerative chronic diseases.

In the beginning or in mild cases of medical conditions, it is advisable to try supplements first, before medications. People may also use nutritional supplements, together with prescription drugs, to support a better healing process, in advanced stages of degenerative diseases.

Researchers show that, by using nutrition supplements on a daily base to complete your alkaline diet, you help your body to keep optimal metabolism and physiology, and a strong immune system as well. This condition allows the body to prevent and fight degenerative diseases more easily, with or without prescription medicines.

6. Assure regular bowl movements and urination

Be sure to have a regular daily bowl movement either by eating foods with enough fiber, or by adding fiber supplements you can find over the counter in any drug store. Drink plenty of water (preferably alkaline water!), not less than 2.5 liters a day, to have at least 1.5 liters of urine per day.
